In the opinion of Ashburn House – Guest House, the Grog and Gruel is one of the best pubs on the Fort William High street. This welcoming bar is popular with locals and tourists alike, giving it a unique, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You can find the pub half way along Fort William’s pedestrian High Street.

The Alehouse

The Alehouse is open daily from 12pm and serves great pub food through until 9pm. Whether you are after a small snack or a more substantial meal, the bar menu caters for all – also a great place for a real coffee! We recommend their famous burgers, extremely tasty and filling and excellent value for money. After you’ve filled your stomachs, you can turn to the wide variety of real Scottish ales and of course the whiskies. Regular guest beers and the bar shelves stacked with around 100 varieties of whiskey make this the perfect spot to get more intimate with one of Scotland’s favourite pastimes. There is often live music in the bar and it is a great place to have a chat with some of Fort William’s more eclectic characters.

The Restaurant

The Restaurant is open in the evenings from 5pm and is upstairs from the alehouse. The restaurant seats up to 50 and children are welcome. The Grog describes their menu as imaginative, with something for everyone. With its relaxed and informal atmosphere, it is very popular and reservations are advised during high seasons.
