NEVIS RANGE MOUNTAIN RANGE

Nevis Range is a year round mountain ski resort. The resort is 7 miles north of Fort William and sits on the mountain of Aonach Mor, the eighth highest in Britain. Its not all about skiing though, that is only a small part of what happens on the hill. The resort is reached by Britain’s only Mountain Gondola, The gondola effortlessly transports you from 300ft up to 2150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor, the journey takes approximately 12 – 15 minutes and allows breathtaking views of the Scottish Highlands. Each gondola can accommodate up to 6 people at at time – wheelchair and disabled access is possible.

The Snowgoose restaurant/bar sits at the top station, serving tasty, locally sourced food cooked on site. Local beers, whiskies and speciality coffees are served at the bar. There is also a gift shop selling a wide range of gifts and souvenirs. Under the restaurant/bar is the mountain discovery center, a place where you can educate yourself about the geology, biology, climate and history of this mountain environment. There are two mountain walks to view points; Sgurr Finnisg-aig, the slightly shorter walk (40 mins – return) and in the opposite direction “Meall Beag” (1 hr return). Both walks are sign posted and start from the top station. Both walks are relatively easy and can be enjoyed by all our visitors, young and old alike. .

The Pinemarten cafe sits at the base station, serving tasty, locally sourced food cooked on site. Aonach Mor has become a mecca for mountain biking in the last years and is also host to the UCI Mountain Bike & Trails World Championships track. However there are 25 miles of forest tracks to explore and tracks are graded from easy to expert, making this a great family day out. Many of the forest tracks can also be explored by foot. The Base station is a great starting point for information, bike hire and a quick bite to eat before heading into the highlands whether it be by bike or foot. Also situated close to base station is the tree top rope courses “High Wire Adventure”, fun and challenging for kids and adults alike.

Winter skiing and snowboarding

Nevis Range offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter with pistes and lifts for beginners to advanced. Ski and snowboard hire and lessons are available on site.
